On February 5-6, 2025, Spoke joined industry leaders at a significant live demonstration of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology organized by the U.S. Department of Transportation with support from the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA). Hosted at the Federal Highway Administration’s Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center, this event showcased real-world applications of cutting-edge technologies aimed at enhancing road safety.
In collaboration with Qualcomm and AUDI AG, Spoke highlighted the vital role of direct C-V2X communication between vehicles and cyclists, effectively demonstrating how “cars see bikes, and bikes see cars.” The live demo illustrated the immediate impact such technology could have on reducing cyclist injuries and fatalities by providing timely alerts and enhanced awareness for all road users.
The demonstration was a powerful showcase of public-private collaboration, bringing together key stakeholders including Verizon, Autotalks, and the Coalition for Cyclist Safety. Each participant highlighted different aspects of C-V2X capabilities—from network-based alerts for speed limit changes and hazardous conditions, demonstrated by Verizon, to Autotalks’ effective same-lane accident prevention technology.
This landmark event underscored Spoke’s commitment to advancing cyclist safety through practical, deployable technologies and reinforced the broader industry mission to accelerate nationwide C-V2X adoption.
Spoke extends its gratitude to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 5GAA, and our industry partners for their dedication to a safer future for cyclists and all vulnerable road users.
